Times of India finally acknowledged Indian freelancers role in Indian economy.

Times of India carried front page news about how Indians are earning full time income as freelancers working from their home. I am glad that the top newspaper in India finally gave credit to Indians who are bringing in U.S. dollars to India without going to the U.S.

One of the top freelancers’ marketplaces Elance.com says it offers 400 free skill tests for freelancers which when passed enable them to make bids to thousands of online jobs ranging from software development, mobile applications, video game developments, web designing and article writing.

Rich Pearson, chief marketing officer at Elance, says, “India is ranked as our second highest freelance earning country last quarter with about one lakh freelancers and another one lakh Indians offering jobs.” He added that hiring of Indian freelancers was growing at 46% annually.

Elance.com claims Indians are among top freelance service providers, behind only those from the U.S.  Odesk is the second big marketplace for freelancers.

Times of India made a mention of one Mr. Pankaj Sarma, a 30-year-old mass communication postgraduate from New Delhi who is earning about Rs 1 lakh monthly from content, advertising and script writing as well as internet marketing assignments.

Another freelancer from Chennai is named John Hingkung, a B.Com student at Loyola College, Chennai. He says he has been earning a stable income by doing search engine optimization (SEO), content writing and freelance writing assignments.

The high paying jobs are grabbed by technically qualified people while writers make a decent income per month. That leaves out those who are neither qualified technically nor has the writing skills. They can join thousands of Indian freelancers by doing simple clerical jobs online such as copy and paste work that include social bookmarking, directory submissions and infographic submissions.

Wordpress training in Chennai.

The Indian social media marketing community along with newbie bloggers in India is slowly waking up to the versatile usage of Wordpress, the open source software in the web design industry. Though, there are thousands of blogs from India that are hosted on wordpress platform, the number is abysmally low when compared to the overall number of self hosted wordpress blogs.

Data Entry work in MTurk.

I learnt a lesson; instead of dissuading MTurk works from working for pennies, I am going to try to help them with their own passion.

MTurk workers in India are mainly interested in doing odd jobs that are purely clerical. They are not interested in earning better by doing creative or semi-technical tasks because they are not interested in learning a new skill.

Ok, so be it.

Data Entry work in MTurk.

 Doing data entry online seem to be the ultimate fascination for millions of freelancers in India. Still, they don't seem to find them because they have not learnt how and where to look for online data entry which is literally a 'copy and paste' work.

I came to know of a certain data entry task available in MTurk that involves the following work:
* Typing information that include name, title, company, address, email, website, etc from business cards.
* Resizing the image of the logo provide.

I am sure this HIT from MTurk won't pay more than 2 cents.

Doubled the online jobs training fees.

After getting listed in Google Local, I started receiving several inquiries over telephone. Most of the callers were casual inquirers and also, I am sad to notice that they have some preconceived notions about earning online by doing part time jobs.

I would say most of the online job seekers are reluctant to learn the required skill to earn money through Internet. They assume their present educational qualification (?) is more than sufficient to get hired.

In order to learn the skill to earn online, people can either learn on their own or get the training necessary from people like me. I am surprised that they don't want neither. They just want to earn money in the Internet. That is all.

To ward of non-serious inquirers, I have doubled the training fees. I sincerely wish this puts them off.

How to Make Quick Money Using the Internet?

You don't have to write a disclosure policy about why you need to make money online. But you need to ask around peers on how to make money online.

The Internet provides many opportunities because it is so possible to make money online. It is amazing that so few people realize just how possible it is! Choosing your method is the first step on the way to earning an online income.

Method #1 -- Provide a Service to Businesses

The first method is to offer some kind of service to businesses. There are many out there that are looking for people to drive traffic to their websites and to write articles for them.

I do this quite often. I post my skills and availability in various market places. I get work most of the time.

Method #2 -- Affiliate Marketing

Many companies spend a lot of money on advertising. Part of this advertising budget includes paying affiliates to send traffic to their website.

You can promote products with your affiliate link and earn a commission of the sale.

Don't be averse to the word 'sales'. Internet selling is comparatively easy to offline selling. In the internet, you don't have to meet the prospective buyer face to face. And you need not offer any after sales service as it is taken care of the original product creator.

Method #3 -- Selling Your Own Information Product

If you are able to quickly create an e-book or other kind of information product, you can make quick money. You can simply drive traffic to your website through Pay Per Click and begin earning money right away.

There are more options other than these, but they will help you get started. One of the common threads these methods all have is that they are all made possible through blogging!

You can blog about your services and even create a sales page on your blog to entice companies to hire you.

You can also sell your own information products through your blog to earn money quickly.

Learning how to blog does not have to be a roadblock. All you need to do is choose a tutorial that will eliminate all the guesswork for you. I recommend The Niche Blogger, created by Amy Bass.

Indians abused in Warrior Forum.

I have a respect for Joe Finn. Today, he disappointed me by directing me to WSO (Warrior Special Offer) that cried 'fault'. The WSO provided by some Rob claimed that he is the best in the world.

Ok, let him beat his drums.

But he accused every Indian freelancer for delivering poor language stuff. He has formed a opinion that Indians doesn't know Internet marketing. Oh, poor guy, isn't he a frog living in a well?

He is offering a 2000 backlinks per month for $97 per month that he says Goggle will love. Did you hear that?

Oh, another one of those hyped claims after accusing everyone in the world of poor quality and poor language. Haven't we all read this all the times?

I would never again buy a WSO.

Bloggers wanted.Get paid to blog.

At a rough estimate, there are about 375 bloggers in India who earn a full time income by blogging.

As probloggers, they get paid to write blog posts for several blog marketing companies that hire bloggers.

In addition, probloggers earn money from other ways that include:
* Renting space in their blogs for advertisers
* Affiliate marketing
* CPA participation
* PPC advertising that pay for every click on the ads

Now, the question is, who hires bloggers?
There are plenty. I have prepared a list of sites that hire freelance bloggers.

How much you can earn as a freelance writer?

Freelance writing throws several avenues to work from home and earn a full time income. I know of a few people who make more than $1000 per month just by writing articles.

Different avenues for freelance writers:

Article writing

Resume writing

Newspaper column writing

Copywriting

Poetry writing

Review writing

There are mainly two ways to earn as a writer for the Internet. One is by bidding for job requirements in online market places and the other is by getting hired directly by submitting samples of your writing work. There is no need to win a bid in the second method.

There is a third method of earning by writing but it is not a lucrative avenue. If you have approved Google AdSense id, you can submit your articles to several revenue sharing websites.

Earn by bidding in online market places:

There are quite a lot of online marketplaces where job providers will advertise their requirements and mention their budget.

As a job provider, you can bid for jobs that you feel you are competent to do it. Invariably, you will have to pay percentage of your earnings to the owner of the marketplace. So, you must place your bid taking into the fees you have to pay.

Initially, your bid may not be successful but you will learn how to win bids in due course.

Since the rate per article varies, I would put $1 per article as a minimum you can earn. This is the lowest rate. The more number of articles you write, the more you can earn. Most of the time, the specified word count would be between 300 – 500 words per article.

Even if you write just 4 articles per day @ $1 per article, you can easily earn around $120 per month.

Earn by writing reviews:

You can earn small amounts of money by writing honest reviews of products and services. The products include digital products also like software and scripts.

But, you can earn big money if you write reviews of movies and books. I know of a company that will pay you even $50 per review.

Your earnings will depend on the number of reads your contribution gets and the numbers of votes the readers give on your writing.

Here too, the rate per review will vary. Some companies will pay you a flat rate per review while some pay per number of votes your review gets.

You can expect a minimum of $25 in a month.

Earn as a freelance article writer:

There are big networks that hire you on a monthly salary. Some big names will pay you up to $25 per article. But to get employed by them, you must be a good writer, which you can become with a few months of writing experience.

You can earn as high as $1000 per month as a freelance article writer.

Earning opportunity for academic writers:

One particular company is ready to pay $6 to $20 per page. You will be writing essays and term papers.

Skills required to earn as a freelance writer:

Ability to do research on the Internet for information

You should be self-organized

Write free of grammar errors

Willing to correct mistakes

Take criticism in the right spirit

Willing to re-do your work

Summary:

Even on a conservative estimate, you can earn a minimum of $300 per month within 6 months.

How much can you earn?

To be frank, there is really no limit. You can earn as much as you want.

On a conservative estimate, one can earn $10 in a matter of two hours. However, this depends on your Internet knowledge and other skills that you possess.

Cons:

• Most of the jobs are low paying jobs when compared to other places in the Internet
• All jobs are to be completed in the stipulated time.
• If the job provider rejects jobs that are completed by you, you are not given a chance to rectify like other sites that I know of.

Here is a sample earnings report of a friend of mine that I trained in 2008. As of today, he has earned about Rs.60,000.

There is another person whom I have trained is also earning from MTurk.

Just like a traditional job, you will earn more money with practice and hard work.

How much can one get for blog commenting?
In my experience, I earned better than forum posting. It can vary from $0.25 to $1 per comment. Though, the rate has gone down in DP forums, I have seen some Indian SEO companies charge as high as $1.85 per comment.

Tips for blog commenting jobs:
* It is a monotonous job. Don't take too much than you can chew.
* Give yourself a break every now and then.
* Compile your own list of high PR 'Do Follow' forums.
* Buy or find a list of 'auto approved do follow' forums. Without your own resources, you won't make a penny.
* When you're quoting to the client how long it'll take to complete, add an extra day or two on top just in case. If you happen to finish early, then you leave a good impression as someone who delivers not only on time, but way before.
